David J. My Vacation Research Project Teacher: Castanheira, Paulo" <pcastanheira@metscharterschool.org>
Due Date: December 9, 2019
Submitted via Google Drive or Paper/Pencil

Objective:
The purpose of this assignment is for students to calculate distance, convert numbers into different units, and practice using Unit Rates and Ratios.

Requirements:
  • Look up your favorite place to go on vacation (HINT: To keep things simple, use only locations in the United States)
  • Find out how far, in miles, your vacation place is from your home. You can use the address of this school (211 Sherman Avenue, Jersey City, NJ 07307) if you don’t want to us your home address. (HINT: Use google maps to find the miles)
  • Convert the distance from miles to feet. (HINT: 1 mile = 5,280 feet)
  • EXTRA CREDIT: Convert the feet you get into inches (HINT: 1 foot = 12 inches)
  • If you were to drive, in a car going 65 mph, how many hours would it take you to get to your location?
  • Assume your speed is constant
  • Assume you don’t stop driving (not even to sleep!!)
  • If your hours are greater than 24, find out how many days it will take you (HINT: 1 day = 24 hours)
  • EXTENDED RESPONSE (This might take some time to figure out)
  • Suppose you don’t have a car and you need to use a bicycle going 15 mph, how many hours would it take?
  • Again, assume your speed is constant
  • Assume you don’t stop and don’t get tired. Just think of how strong your leg muscles would be after doing this!!!
  • If your hours are greater than 24, find out how many days it will take you (HINT: 1 day = 24 hours)

EACH STUDENT MUST HAVE A DIFFERENT VACATION PLACE!!!
Talk with your classmates to make sure you are not going to the same place
